The Country & Sea program offers flexible trail riding on the Island of Sardinia. Rather than the set route of the Monti and Mare trail, this ride offers a more flexible approach to coastal and country riding, with no minimum number of participants or set start date.
Stay at the comfortable and hospitable inn where the well trained Anglo-Arabians are stabled, and ride from there or the stable on the coast. You will have 3 days of riding from each location for an ideal combination through the varied terrain of the island.
A love of and commitment to horses and equestrianism runs deep here, as horses graze on the grounds of the inn owned by a 5th generation horseman. The hospitality allows you to fully relax, and the daily riding treks offer adventure with both exciting riding and the fascinating surroundings of this intriguing island. For groups of mixed abilities and those interested in instruction, please consider the Monti and Mare at Liberty program offered by the same hosts.
This program includes 6 days of riding, with 3 days in the countryside surrounding the hotel, and 3 days from the stable at the coast. It is designed for riders who want to experience riding in the different landscapes of Sardinia. Your guide will determine upon arrival, based on the riding schedule at the hotel, how the days will be organized, with either rides from the hotel or stable first.
Trail rides from the hotel will take you down ancient shepherds' paths and past their sheep pastures. You will see the signature Sardinian stone walls, cork forests and open medows. There are plenty of opportunities for long canters on dirt tracks on the well-trained Anglo-Arabian mounts.
Trail rides from the coast follow sandy paths or take you through big meadows full of flowers. You may go through pine forests, ascend steep cliffs, or ride along the beach of Is Arenas or the Maimoni beach, covered in quite quartz sand. Here the horses can play in the sea water and you will have a wonderful canter over the beach, which the horses enjoy almost as much as the riders.
