There still remain some parts of the world where you can cover miles each day by horseback, covering great distances over the duration of your trip.
The rides in Namibia offer an endurance type expedition, where testing your riding fitness to cover 35 miles or more on some days is part of the adventure. The Fjallabak ride in Iceland offers several days of 7-8 hours riding, allowing you to see as much as possible of the remote highlands. The horses used on Colombia’s Barichara ride have endurance training, and easily manage the long distances ridden daily. It is a unique privilege to enjoy nearly endless country for most of us who may be lucky to manage a short trail ride outside of the arena in our daily lives, but one must be fit!
